Western Pacific deployments in diesel submarines meant a long transit from Pearl or San Diego to Japan and back. Some days were rough and rainy, some cold and really rough but the Pacific had its wonderful moments of long rollers and wonderful warm sun. This painting is of a guppy-conversion submarine in the mid-1960s making that long trip home after being deployed for six months or more.
Shipping note for watercolors: Due to the high cost of shipping framed works with glass and the probability of breakage, the watercolors will be shipped matted and with backing (foam core) suitable for framing. Framing to be done by the customer. If the customer is within a 25 mile radius of St Augustine, Florida, US I will arrange for framing and delivery if desired. |
